Therapy is individual, not off the peg
Counselling allows us to shift our thinking and find our way through challenging times with support along our route. Whilst I am trained in the Person-Centred Approach, but also work flexibly with ACT and CBT, to suit individuals needs. I have a particular interest in finding individual strategies for clients to better manage the ups and downs in life. We all work much better together than we do alone; we are social creatures by nature.
About me and my practice
You can expect a warm supportive environment, confidentiality and a non-judgemental space to work through your difficulties when you work with me at Foxes' Retreat.
Whilst most of our therapeutic work takes place in our comfortable Therapy Room in The Courtyard at Foxes' Retreat, there is also have a Workshop Room with a large table to use for organising ideas, making plans and sorting through options on paper, if that is appropriate to individuals.
The Workshop Room is also where much of our Therapeutic Writing therapy takes place, for those clients choosing to work with words.
Foxes' Retreat is ten minutes from both Ashbourne and Ilam, set in a quiet valley. Parking is available right outside our therapy office, and a peaceful setting from which to work.
Experience
My specialism is neurodivergence, in all its forms. I work particularly with adults following a later diagnosis, for acceptance and strategies about future best lives. This work can include family work and support systems, reaching out to communities and developmental coaching. I have personal lived autism and ADHD experience, as well as close family and friends with diagnoses.
I welcome working with individuals of all races and ethnicities, genders and expression of those genders, sexuality and sexual orientations, religions, marital status, or military status, If there is anything I have omitted here, please be assured it is a genuine error, and not a sign of exclusion. Contacting us to mention any omissions in this area will be well received!
I am trained in the integrative work related to plant medicines. I have extensive experience of working with issues around anxiety and medications, including recreational drugs, due to my volunteer roles at many Burning Man events.

Additional Information

Initial Consultation
Our first session will be one where we work through what you are looking for and how therapeutic work may help you. This may last up to 75 minutes, as we set up safe boundaries around your work and allow you to feel truly heard in what you want to share.
We will look at different ways of working which will give you an insight into how the therapeutic relationship will be able to support you. Some clients like to sit quietly in our Therapy Space for their sessions, whilst some prefer to walk and talk in the countryside around Foxes' Retreat. This session will look at your preferences and how we can support you best. Online work is also available, if you have a private space from which to video call.
Fees
My usual client fees are £60/therapeutic hour for individuals and £90/therapeutic hour for couples therapy.
